#WhosWatchingBecca - 3EIGHTH x DE HAN BTS Special

Becca D’Bus wearing 3EIGHTH x DE HAN

It’s been a wild ride - and we’ve had the absolute honour of working with heavy weights (literally hahah), people that we love and respect, with new friendships and chemistry formed in the midst of all the action.

What started from a simple idea of dressing someone to show our love and support for pride and Pink Dot, has now taken shape to add a bold perspective through the love of art, fashion, a strong desire to voice out the flaws of our systems and to re-think how we can all do better. I’ve never dreamt of coming to celebrate Pink Dot and my love for my friends and the community the way I have done this year (2019). It was humbling receiving so much support, and without the love and ideas of collaboration, this production would not have taken shape the way it did.

This marks 3EIGHTH’s first foray into Demi-couture, and I can not be more proud and honoured than I am right now. This is also my first official design debut, with the love and collaboration efforts of a budding local designer and good friend of mine, DE HAN who has worked relentlessly with me on board this project since day one. We’ve spent hours and days pouring our souls out and spending quality time working on this and tweaking our processes to expedite this project, and it means so much to us to see this immortalized on stage.

With all my heart, this is also dedicated to Becca D’Bus who also rocks up a hell of a show on RIOT! and then also gave us so much input and feedback to improve on our design and to expand our production into a full-blown editorial.

It is radical to be in a space where you’re told to behave like you’re not being watched, and to claim that space.

— Becca D'BUS ON ISSUE MAGAZINE'S #WHOSWATCHINGBECCA

A big thank you to ISSUE MAGAZINE - to Gordon and Miki who are so talented in their own rights and scopes. I have so much respect to the both of you who said yes in a heartbeat to work with us on this. We’ve had stunning art direction and real attitudes served.

Throughout this process, we’ve also had all the luck in the world to rope in This Humid House, aka the people who always know how to make heads turn, design a glorious head crown and the floral styling for our production. A big, special thank you to Philip Ho of Humid House who was truly the warrior on set.

To Sherman See-tho, who was our photographer throughout all of our creative endeavours and projects since 3EIGHTH’s debut, I am so grateful and thankful to have the support and vision of a creative like you, who gives me input and fought along side me no matter. And lastly, to Caleb, Lynn and Nigel who gave us their hard work for the behind-the-scenes video that looked so gorgeous. And to Jonathan who helped us at the shoot and made things a lot easier. My heart cannot be fuller.

To bigger and better as we grow and love the people around us. We can’t wait to embark on more exciting project and share our story as we also make space to accept more Demi-couture commissions as part of our custom clothing experience.
