3EIGHTH STUDIO: For Victoria Wondersnatch

Once in awhile we say yes to the wildest ideas, and so we had the absolute pleasure of working on something really special and close to our hearts. What started out as a conversation became something more - and we were so glad to lend hands to a project like this.

We were first approached by Queen, Victoria Wondersnatch who was prepping for her show, OktoberSnatch! in support of Action For Aids foundation, Fund for the Arts. The show was planned specifically to raise funds and provide grants to work that would tackle the difficult issue of providing more representation to the LGBTQIA+ community and change perspectives on the stereotypes faced by the group. For those who are unaware, AFA Singapore is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to fighting AIDS/ HIV infection in Singapore.

To prep for the show, we created looks that paid homage to the German Beer Girl and Klaus Nomi as well. For the Beer Girl look, we used Tulle and Ginghams to replicate the effect of the traditional look onto a show girl. As with for the Klaus Nomi look, we took pains to ensure it had the structured shoulders to create a similar silhouette.

It took us a total of 3 months to finish the look from concept, sketches, sourcing and finalization. With feedback and support from Victoria herself, it gave us insights on how to ensure this was performance appropriate and comfortable to move around in, plus to make a real entrance.

All in all, we had a wonderful time at the OktoberSnatch! show! We were also happy to contribute and gift a Custom Suit experience to one of the winners of the lucky draw - worth SGD 900. It was heartwarming seeing and chatting with everyone who was a part of the night. We were also very overwhelmed by the positive feedback and responses, plus to share our love of custom clothes to everyone else x

Thank you once again for the opportunity. It was yet another eye-opening and interesting experience as we challenged ourselves to create these costumes.
