An ode to what I love and believe in, of who I am and what I’ve been looking to marry into tailored clothing, and where the lines overlap. I truly believe this is what dressing up for ourselves should feel like - to feel undeterred, in our own skin; with clothes made just right (not tight) for our form.

3EIGHTH was a concept formulated over years and years of wanting to put a girl in a suit. Despite dedicating two years of my life apprenticing in a traditional menswear tailoring house, my love for the all things contemporary never took a backseat - from pop culture, to other fashion forms, music genres from K-pop to shoe-gazing, my broad taste remained. I’ve longed to incorporate a bit of my own flavour where everything is blurred - it doesn’t matter whether you’re female or male; as long as you like what you’re wearing. And most importantly, reinforce comfort, and an overall balanced silhouette into clothing, which I’ve always wanted to pursue for everyone regardless of their gender, sexuality and preferences.

This series features fabrics and cuts close to my heart - generous cuts and styles that I believe should be available for everyone… I’ve sourced high and low for fabrics to bring in a touch of colour and “texture” - understated, but subtly explosive when done with dynamic pairings in basic colours.

Plaids are my absolute favourite, it’s classic, it’s everlasting and has a nice familiarity to it when worn. Our seersuckers featured above are 100% Cotton - which means breathability for your shirts. As for the plaid suit that has been the apple of everyone’s eyes, it’s an exclusive to us print, with yardage left for only a limited number of commissions, so it’s definitely a unique number to have. Apart from plaids, we’ve also brought in some interesting prints with the Digital Gauze print and a nice deep red Crepe. Perfect for Christmas and the Lunar New Year too yes!

You’ll also find that everything is paired with sneakers; I’ve worked in a sneaker store during my polytechnic days, and I’ll always have an itch to pair about EVERYTHING with sneakers. And for this series, we were lucky to be working with Superga Singapore as our official sole sponsor.

Of course, it would not be complete without the right pairings… It was an absolute honour to have so many wonderful people and brands to support us on our debut shoot. Special thanks to Ye Jewlery, Layn cosmetics (courtesy of Waneeta Singapore), both available in-stores, and also to Superga footwear and florist, Kiki Woods who are also a part of this debut. Founder of Ye Jewelry, Lydia was also our homegirl for this shoot, and we’re thankful that she was 100% game on for this!

And if there’s anything I’ve loved more, it’s got to be workwear. I’ve long admired the utilitarian aspect of workwear, as well as its overall aesthetic… There’s something always something about it that makes people look smart and reliable, perhaps it’s the uniformed style and impact it has had over the course of history. I’ve paired up a short sleeved shirt with a matching wide-legged trousers a comfortable Stretch-cotton with double functional pockets, and Superga’s classic silhouette in blue suede, designed in collaboration with Highsnobiety to complete the look. These Stretch-cottons are available in 10 different colours, from white to green, so pick your poison.

So here’s a big fat thank you once again to everyone who’s been a part of my journey towards building 3EIGHTH, and to all the new possibilities that can be dreamed of in custom clothing. I can’t wait now…
